Episode 1: Strengths

Strengths are capabilities that are acquired and that have scientific support, and can be classified and measured. In relation to the above, since 1998, psychologists Martin Seligman. from the University of Pennsylvania, and Christopher Peterson, from the University of Michigan, both prestigious leaders in the field of positive psychology, began to work on a “positive” classification of associated strengths and virtues,

This is how, between 2003 and 2004, the VIA Questionnaire (or Values in Action) was born, which seeks to focus on the psychological strengths that help us have better mental health.

Episode 2: Positive Emotions

Podcast.png

Positive emotions are those that, in simple terms, make us feel good, and that allow us to be happier, healthier, learn better, and maintain good relationships with others. In this sense, science helps us understand how valuable positive emotions can be in our daily lives.

In this regard, Barbara Fredrickson, Director of the Laboratory of Positive Emotions and Psychophysiology at the University of North Carolina and a recognized figure in the field for her Model of Expansion and Construction of Positive Emotions, suggests that when people experience positive emotions, their minds they expand and open up to new possibilities and ideas, and that, over time, these actions can add up and help build knowledge, social relationships, and physical health. Within his studies he manages to identify 10 Positive Emotions to know and enhance in human beings:

Joy - Gratitude - Serenity - Interest - Hope - Pride - Fun - Inspiration - Awe and Love.

Some of the conclusions that we can draw from these studies is the importance of developing methods for experiencing positive emotions more frequently and incorporating them into the different contexts of our daily lives. In this way, a transformation process at the community level will also be favored, since the positive emotions of each person can resonate through others, favoring the existence of a chain of positive events. In short, a society in search of greater growth, resilience and better prepared for difficult times.

Episode 3: Achievement

Podcast.png
IMG_0395.PNG

In general terms, achievement is an essential element of well-being that allows us to provide positive feedback on the actions carried out within a given process, inspiring us and driving us to prosper and flourish.

In this sense, having clear objectives, mastering our skills and achieving short and long-term goals requires, without a doubt, determination and perseverance. In this regard, Angela Duckworth, professor of psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, has developed the concept of "guts", which is the perseverance to achieve objectives over months or years. The ability to persevere also contributes to a sense of accomplishment, an experience that we can savor and remember to motivate ourselves each time we are faced with a new challenge.

Actions:

1. We define concrete objectives that can be met and that are specific, measurable, achievable and measurable over time

2. Take a growth mindset approach. Let us remember that failure is a result that initially involves unpleasant emotions, but that in the long run allows us to learn, redirect our path and develop our flexibility within the framework of a process of continuous improvement.

3. Let's try to make wellness a goal. People who have goals oriented to personal growth and connection with others obtain a higher level of well-being and purpose.
